X-Rite ColorChecker and Video at Hallmark Institute of Photography
by Brenda K. Hipsher – February 13th, 2012
X-Rite ColorChecker Classic has been the most photographed object on the planet for over 30 years. From way back in film days professional photographers have known that taking a shot of a ColorChecker is the way to insure a color standard in their work. Well a whole new generation of photographer/videographers are still using ColorChecker Classic to standardize both their still AND video projects.
If you’re one of those photographers who has already dipped your toe in the water or are thinking about moving your business to shooting video in addition to still images there’s a weekend workshop coming up that will be of interest. Hallmark Institute of Photography in Western, Massachusetts is offering a great opportunity to spend two days in a “hands on” environment. Bring your own equipment or use Hallmark’s equipment. This weekend workshop will cover camera set ups including frame rates, picture profiles and white balance and give you demos for metering, focusing and exposure techniques, and more to help you adapt the skills you already have for still photography to videography. Remember that you’ll need a calibrated and profiled monitor in addition to your ColorChecker Classic in the shot to assist you in evaluating your video footage. Learn more about the new display solutions from X-Rite – ColorMunki Display and i1Display Pro at www.xritephoto.com.
