Coloratti Art Suwansang on Monitor Calibration and X-Rite Solutions
by Brenda K. Hipsher – March 26th, 2012
Coloratti Art Suwansang has a review of ColorMunki Display and i1Display Pro in the March 2012 issue of Rangefinder. Art Suwansang is a wedding specialist. He’s a working photographer near Los Angeles, California. I first met Art at WPPI a few years ago where he was speaking. Since then he has become part of the X-Rite Coloratti program and a valued friend. Art writes for magazines in the US and UK and speaks at photographic conferences internationally. In his spare time he’s an educator teaching classes at two different colleges.
Art’s review of X-Rite solutions is called First Exposure: X-Rite ColorMunki Display and i1Display Pro. I was curious when I read the words “entry-level” device. ColorMunki Display is an easy to use solution with a lower investment cost. The new i1Profiler software makes i1Display Pro an amazing suite of tools for changing virtually any setting you can imagine, creating custom patch sets, and provides quality assurance options to evaluate the profile and your monitor. And i1Display Pro also features measurements speeds up to 5 times faster than other devices. Both devices are the highest quality professional devices on the market.
I asked Art about the use of the word “entry-level.” He laughed and told me he didn’t mean that the devices are entry level solutions. Instead he is referring to monitor calibration as the starting point for color management. Monitor calibration is the “entry” into color management for the professional photographer.
We caught up with Art today to talk a little bit about all the things he’s doing and his philosophy of color management. Have a listen to what he says about the importance of monitor calibration.
We hope you’ll check out Coloratti Art Suwansang’s website www.wedding64.com. And check out the March 2012 issue of Rangefinder where you’ll find lots of other great articles and features in addition to Art’s review of X-Rite display solutions review.
Art believes that color management is essential for digital photographers and that monitor calibration is the place to start. It’s time you stopped guessing at your color and luminance and joined the ranks of color perfectionists who take control of their workflow and get accurate predictable results every time.
