Gary Poole on X-Rite ColorChecker PassportCamera profiles are important to your RAW digital workflow. Why? Because with custom camera profiles using Camera Calibration Software from X-Rite and any ColorChecker Classic target you can produce a custom camera  profile that will allow your camera sensor to produce the absolute best rendition of color in any light source. This reproduction is a standardization that will also allow you to get files that closely match each other using cameras with very different color reproduction on the sensors. You can even get good matches from cameras with CCD sensors and cameras with CMOS sensors. Shootsmarter Gary Poole has published an article on X-Rite ColorChecker Camera Profiles

You can access Gary’s article at Shootsmarter.com. “Most cameras differ greatly in their ability to capture accurate color,” says Gary Poole.  “There are internal adjustments and offsets to help with this issue but the best solution in my opinion is to create a custom camera profile using the X-Rite Color Checker Passport.” We agree!  So get yourself on over to ShootSmarter.com

ColorChecker Passport contains three targets in an easy to carry plastic case that keeps all three targets safe from light, dust, dirt, and moisture. The ColorChecker Classic is the target that Camera Calibration Software uses to produce the DNG camera profile that allows you to characterize your camera sensor for color reproduction in Adobe programs.  As Gary points out this is for use in a RAW workflow.  ColorChecker Passport also includes two additional targets, the enhanced target and a white card.
