Introducing Color Talk with Dina Douglass
by Brenda K. Hipsher – July 10th, 2013
Today we are introducing you to Color Talk, a video project that we’ve been working on for some time. Color Talk brings you photographers and industry professionals from varied backgrounds to talk about one thing… COLOR! The variety of ways people think about and talk about color is amazing. We hope you will enjoy this video series as much as we are enjoying creating it for you. And now… we would like you to meet our very first Color Talk photographer, Dina Douglass of Andrena Studios in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Color evokes emotion in people. “Red makes people willing to spend more money for food,” says Dina. “When you get good color in a photo… people react to the image differently.” Just adding a tungsten glow can enhance the photo and compliment the colors that are already present in the image.
Dina says color management is important for the digital photographer. “When a client has a choice between two photographers,” she says, “…and one person has good, clean, crisp, beautiful color and the other person has … straight out of camera color, I’m going to get that job.”
Dina Douglass was named one of the Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World by American Photo Magazine in 2011, and she has been profiled in Popular Photography, Professional Photographer, Rangefinder, Russian Photo, Photo World and Asian Photography magazines. Her work has also been featured on MTV, Entertainment Tonight, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Platinum Weddings, as well as in the pages of lifestyle and bridal magazines around the world. She has also spoken on color and retouching at numerous photography conferences.
