Exploring Affinity Photo Editing Software Persona Panels

One of the key features that sets the Affinity Photo editing software apart from other image editing software is the workspace layout. Instead of using a single workspace Affinity opts for breaking the tools up in different workspaces called Personas. As a result we’re able to de-clutter our workspace and work with only necessary tools. Let’s take a look at each Persona and what it offers our photo and image editing process.

The Personas can be found in the top left-hand corner and include Photo, Liquify, Develop, Tone Mapping and Exporting.

In this persona, you will do your almost all your complex image editing. By default the software opens in this Persona and all the edits to the image are done on non-destructive adjustment layers.

On the left-hand side of the workspace, you can see common tools including selection tools, dodge, burn, healing and cloning brushes, crop tools, etc. On the right-hand side of the workspace your histogram, layers, adjustment layer options, and swatches exist.

In the liquify persona, you can stretch and warp your image using mesh based distortions.
On the left-hand side of the workspace, you can select the type of distortion tool and the right panel is the options to make modifications to the distortion brush and mesh.

Now this persona will open by default if you import a Raw image. Here you can perform basic exposure and editing corrections to your image in an unbound color space. This persona is also useful to make quick tonal adjustments to an image.
