Workshop: Developing A Travel Narrative – From Capture to Print
by Alan Winslow – June 25th, 2018
Are you going on a vacation? Traveling to a new and exotic locale? Are you looking to produce images other than the classic tourist images? Does the idea of spending a week on the coast of Maine sound appealing? Well, we have the workshop for you. Join Photographer, and educator Alan Winslow at the Maine Media Workshops for his new class Developing a Travel Narrative: From Capture to Print!
What the course will cover
In this intensive shoot to print workshop, he will help you to hone techniques and strategies for making a body of work that captures the essence of a destination. This workshop will guide you in using your camera to experience a place through landscape, nature, street and portrait photography.
We’ll dive into advanced camera control and composition techniques to make thought-provoking and unique images. Back in the studio, we’ll take our pictures through the editing process all the way to print. They will also have the opportunity to experiment with various printing surfaces from Ilford Premium Imaging Projects to match the best paper for their particular style. Rather then guessing on our color, we will discuss a complete workflow of X-Rite products.
In the field, students will be using the X-Rite ColorChecker Passport Photo under every lighting condition. Back in the studio students will learn the steps of calibrating their monitors and developing custom ICC profiles to get a fantastic print using the i1Studio. We will take the fear out of printing at home.
By the end, participants will have created, edited and printed a travel story. The stories will be shared and critiqued on the final day of class.
This class runs from Date: Jul 29- Aug 4, 2018. To get more information visit the Maine Media Workshops page here. We hope to see you there!
