X-Rite i1Display Pro Video Presets
by Brenda K. Hipsher – July 29th, 2012
X-Rite introduced video presets with the release of i1Profiler v1.3.1 in April 2012. The i1Profiler software drives the popular i1Display Pro, i1Pro, and i1Pro 2 devices all featuring monitor profiling. The presets make possible calibrating and profiling your monitor to industry standards for video. These standards include NTSC, PAL-SECAM, and Rec. 709.
Video presets are available in the Advanced mode of the software. Open the software and choose Advanced in the “User Mode:” area of the home page.
On this same screen look to the bottom left of the screen and see “Switch to saved workflows.”
When “Switch to saved workflows” is selected the video presets are shown in the TOP LEFT of the screen just under the words “Workflow Selector”. Each preset is selectable and literally “preset” to calibrate and profile your display to the selected video standard.
Use video presets when profiling LCD televisions or your own computer monitor when editing video footage. If you use your monitor for still photo editing and video editing consider creating separate profiles for each workflow and switching between the two in your operating system settings.
