Julieanne Kost 8:45 – 11:45am PhotoPlus Expo Room 1E12
With the new versions of Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5, you have more power at your fingertips than ever before. In this three-hour session, Julieanne Kost will uncover the new features in Lightroom 5 that allow you to do single image corrections and enhancements like never before possible. Then she’ll show you how to take them into Photoshop CC, where you can take your images even further through retouching, composting and adding motion. Kost will also reveal some of the new capabilities in Creative Cloud, including how you can easily showcase your work on Behance, or add fabulous fonts from Adobe Type kit. Learn how to extend your work to clients through Creative Cloud and easily output to social sharing sites through Lightroom. Attendees will leave this seminar with a smoother workflow that takes advantage of Adobe’s latest technology breakthroughs.

Michael Grecco 1:30pm – 3:30pm PhotoPlus Expo Room 1E08
The difference between an ordinary photo- graph and a truly striking portrait lies in the photographer’s ability to pierce the obvious and reveal the intimate nature of the subject. The play of available angles, light and shadow, soft shapes and hard lines are tools to create not just a photograph but a work of art. In this seminar, you’ll add these tools to your camera bag. Using his own work as reference, Michael Grecco will explain his techniques for creating light and shadow and will demonstrate how he creates his stylistic and dramatic images. Grecco will demonstrate his specialty lights and the setups used to create the striking signature look for his newest work. The last 20 minutes of this seminar will be a Q&A with some of his specialty gear shown.
Michael Grecco is a director and one of the top photographers in the world who has created iconic portraits of the most recognized entertainment stars, recently Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Will Ferrell, Penelope Cruz and Teri Hatcher. His movie “Naked Ambition” has been a hit movie winning critical acclaim. His award-winning still images are seen in trendsetting magazines such as Esquire, Time, Entertainment Weekly and Maxim. He has also photographed authors and scientists, skateboarders and musicians, and the locals he meets in his travels around the country. He is author of the best-selling photographer’s guide Lighting and the Dramatic Portrait: The Art of Celebrity and Editorial Photography. His lectures on photography are wildly popular and he has been profiled in virtually all key photographic trade journals. He lives and works in Santa Monica, California.

Andy Marcus will explain how he has mastered keeping the top position in New York’s hot wedding market while producing amazing images and giving the ultimate in customer service to both clients and vendors.

Vincent Laforet 1:30-3:30pm PhotoPlus Expo Room 1E12
Leading filmmaker and photographer Vincent Laforet will discuss his transition from nearly two decades as a Pulitzer-Prize winning photographer for The New York Times, Life, Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, National Geographic into the world of motion. He will discuss many of the challenges he was faced with as he transitioned from editorial to commercial photography, through to commercial film sets as a director and cinematographer shooting commercials for clients such as Sony, Adobe, Pepsi, and Reebok. He will also discuss current trends and how they are affecting most of the creative fields today. We will look at the rise of internet and social media such Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and other specific tools and technologies and their direct correlation to the recent evolution of both the still photography and motion businesses. Showing footage from the Canon 5D MKII, Canon C300, RED Epic, Phantom and all the down to iPhone cameras, Laforet will point out specific points in the timeline of new technology developments and how they relate to trends in the photography and film markets. Discussion will also focus on the hybridization of the still and video worlds, allowing attendees to gain a glimpse into what might happen in the near future. While no one knows where we will be in five years, this discussion will give you a better understanding about how we got to where we are today and what might come next.
Corey Rich 4:00-6:00pm PhotoPlus Expo Room 1E12
This seminar is a step-by-step explanation of how to transitions ones’ career from still photography to motion. Corey Rich will examine the positives and negatives of each industry, from licensing models to crew sizes to post production. Additionally, Rich will discuss the skill sets that carry over from still photography, the creative approach to motion storytelling, the equipment and the technical skills needed to enter the motion world. Using several anecdotal examples of how a photographer can smoothly transition into the motion world while keeping tabs on legacy still photography business, he will weigh the risks versus rewards of incorporating these skills in one’s business. The goal of this presentation is to help attendees build a profitable business based on the foundation of still photography with enormous growth opportunities in the motion storytelling world. Points to be covered include: the path from still to motion; an analysis of still v.s. motion skills; the business of still photography v.s. motion; the equipment of motion; risk v.s. reward; creativity as well as anecdotes from the field.
