X-Rite Coloratti Photo of the Week – February 2019
by Dave Mobbs – February 27th, 2019
Another month filled with amazing images from our Coloratti has quickly gone by. In February we featured the works of some of the world’s best photographers in their respective fields: Kevin Wilson, Duarte Sol, and Joshua Holko. Read on if you want to know more about this month’s featured images and the amazingly-talented photographers who shot them.
Kevin Wilson is a Dorset-based wedding photographer and is widely acclaimed as Europe’s leading portrait and wedding photographer. Kevin’s experience and artistic flair as a wedding photographer has resulted in him being one of this country’s highest award-winning photographers with no less than 17 Kodak European Gold Awards.
Kevin shot this image in Italy last October during a course conjunction with Simon John and Graphistudio in Italy.
“I was walking the grounds of the castle, I came across this cold room built around 1870. It is where the rich people kept their food during the winter months. Although sealed up, I managed to obtain entry through a small tunnel, thus enabling me to create this portrait of Verity Bedford”.
Kevin and Simon John are doing another workshop at Castle Ceconi this year, between 26th -30th August 2019. If you’d like to take part, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Our second featured photo of the month comes from Duarte Sol. Based in Portugal, Coloratti Duarte Sol is an economist and professional landscape photographer. He started shooting back in 2010. His passion for landscape photography stems from the fact that he loves to be in contact with nature. He also sees it as a way to endure the stress of everyday life.
“The Northern Lights, even with low intensity, are always a spectacle that can leave anyone amazed. The visit to the Black Church was even more beautiful with the Green Lady blessing us with her presence…”
Duarte took this image in Budir, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, in Iceland, using With Canon 5D Mark III + Laowa 12mm.
A lot of things can be said about Joshua Holko: he’s a full-time professional landscape, nature and wildlife photographer, a passionate teacher and above all, a true adventurer! He specialises in the Polar and sub-Polar regions of the globe, and his work celebrates the extreme latitudes of the Polar environment.
Last week’s photo of the Week was captured 82º North of Svalbard during the midnight sun.
Speaking of adventures, Joshua’s latest exploit took him all the way to Northern Finland, near the Russian border, for the chance to photograph the elusive Wolverine in winter. You can watch his daily vlogs here: https://bit.ly/2SuUkNy
